Engineered Oak

Engineered oak floors are specially constructed to have a very stable structure, making engineered oak floorboards ideal for use with under floor heating & areas where solid oak is not suitable. Our engineered oak floors still retain the same character & authentic charm as real oak flooring.

If you want the quality and feel of a real wood floor but it is not suitable for your conditions then engineered oak floorboards provide a perfect answer. Oak engineered flooring is suitable for areas where real wood flooring wouldn't be, such as with under floor heating or areas with a high moisture content. Engineered oak floors benefit from a resistance and rigidity due to the bottom and middle layers being constructed from cross layers of plywood. Use of a good underlay will help insulate your home and provide more protection from damp rising up into the floorboards.

This type of flooring comes in a range of finishes and styles. This flooring comes in two main styles bevelled which makes each floorboard stand out as an individual, giving a contemporary appearance or square-edged which gives a more seamless and traditional looking finish but which can also be more suitable for a more contemporary design scheme where the customer is trying to create a minimalist design. The wide choice of different finishes means there will be a style of engineered oak floors that will perfectly suit most interiors.

There are a number of brands of flooring available such as Bruce, Armstrong or Johnson to name but a few and engineered oak boards are available from the cheaper to the premium brands, the principal differences are in the wear layer on the top of the boards, the thicker the wear layer the more durable and long lasting the flooring will be and also in the width and lengths of the boards. The longer and wider the boards (and the percentage of long boards to be supplied) the more they will cost and in general terms the more expensive the boards the thicker the wear layer will be. If you are looking for a floor for an area that receives a lot of wear and tear then for a long lasting finish you should get the very best quality floorboards that you can afford.

Our engineered oak floors are available in lengths up to 3m long. For useful tips & information on engineered oak floorboards visit our oak flooring blog
