Solid Oak Flooring & Engineered Oak Flooring
The key difference between the two is the structure of the boards - engineered oak flooring is made from 1 top layer of solid oak glued down to several cross layers of ply; totally invisible once installed but crucially giving a more stable floor. If you have under floor heating then engineered oak floorboards will provide a beautiful wood floor that stays stable over time, even with modern heating systems. However one can never disregard the majesty and prestige of solid oak flooring - although not suitable for use with under floor heating, with careful installation and minimal maintenance a solid oak floor can last for decades - typically solid oak flooring only looks better with age! Authentic Antique Flooring that Enhances the Character of Your Home
Natural authentic character is essential for a period property or listed building. Oak floorboards that look 'new', 'shiny', 'plastic' or 'fake' can look out of place in a beautiful country home and can spell disaster for properties being lovingly restored to their former glory. All our antique flooring has 3 essential components that make them so authentic and well suited to character homes: wide boards with long floorboard lengths, rich and subtle colour finishes that have sheen and not shine and lastly oak floorboards bursting with natural character & charm. Wide Oak Flooring Sussex supplies antique finishes in both solid & engineered oak flooring if you wish to install your wood floor over under floor heating. View our character floors here
